My very first visit to Paris was in 1977 and I got around the city mostly by the Metro after a couple of very expensive and terrifying taxi rides. I was thrilled at being able to navigate the Metro and felt worldly.  I also frequently felt hot, sweaty, and rushed. It wasn’t until my 1999 visit that I started using the above ground bus system to get around. A Parisienne friend taught me “how to”. The Paris bus system keeps getting better and better. Yes, sometimes I take the Metro or the RER, but if there’s a handy bus line available, that’s how I roll!  Let me teach you!

Here’s a photo of me and my classmates at Alliance Française taken in 2012. I’m the one with grey hair. Allons-y!
