I was shuffling through my French Songs playlist and heard Yves Montand singing <<Rue Lepic>>. It reminded me that I want to explore that <<quartier>> on my next visit. I’ll be staying on the Left Bank and Rue Lepic is near Montmartre about 4.5 miles from my starting point.
For this RATP query I began with “least amount of walking” because my feet vividly recall many longer than expected excursions during my previous Montmartre visits. Voilà! I see a 2 minute walk to my starting bus and a 1 minute walk from my final bus line to Rue Lepic. I’ll be taking Line 21 (one of my favorite lines) and connect with Line 74 at Rivoli – Pont Neuf. This is the first RATP query where I’ve seen the following information about making the connection between two bus lines.
Using the bus system will save my feet for something much more interesting than going below the beautiful city of Paris to take a metro to Abbesses and then walking up several stories to the street level because the elevator is <<hors de service>> (<<comme toujours>>).
I actually like the Abbesses Metro station **above ground**. It’s a beautiful Art Nouveau entrance. If you do take the Metro and exit at Abbesses (I confess I’ve done this many times), after you’ve made it up to the street you’ll have about a 9 minute walk up (very up) to Sacre Cœur. How are your feet feeling “:-)”. Use the fabulous Paris buses and get closer to your destination.
